The basics of the game – how to play and what the goal is
If you’ve never played beer pong, then you will want to start with the basics of the game.
The goal is to throw a ping pong ball into one of the opponent’s cups. If you succeed, then the opponent must drink the contents of that cup. The game is typically played with two teams of two players each, but can also be played with just two people.
If you are a little bit OCD or are playing this in a home with pet fur lying around, you might want to use different cups you drink from and others you throw the beer into.
How to set up the table and cups for playing
So, before you start playing and drinking you’ll need to set up the playing field. This is typically a long table with 10 Solo cups arranged in a triangle at each end. You’ll need beer for filling up the cups (more on that later) and ping pong balls.
Alternatively, you can just fill the cups up with water and make sure each player has a beer handy they can drink from.
Arrange the 10 cups in a triangle at each end of the table. Each cup should have about an inch or so of liquid in it – enough that it will slosh around a bit when someone hits it, but not so much that it will spill everywhere.
How to play beer pong
Now that the table is set up, it’s time to start playing! The game is played with two teams of two players each standing at opposite ends of the table.
To start the game, each team throws a ping pong ball at the other team’s cups. If a ball lands in a cup, the contents of that cup must be drunk by one of the players on the team that did not throw the ball.
If both players on a team manage to throw balls into the cups, then both players on the other team must drink. The first team to clear all of their cups wins the game!
Alternative rules
If you are playing with more than two people, you can have teams of three or four players.
Another popular variation is to play without teams, so each player throws balls at their own cups and tries to clear them all before the other players do.
Some people also like to play with different rules for bouncing the ball – if you manage to bounce the ball into a cup, then the contents of that cup must be drunk by one of the players on the other team.
You can also make it so that players have to drink all of the beer in their cup before they can throw again, or make it so that players can only throw once per turn.
Whatever rules you decide to play with, just make sure everyone is on the same page before you start playing!
How to throw a ball accurately and make shots that count
If you aren’t a world-class athlete (or perhaps you’ve already had a few) you will want to throw the ball so that it hits the table and then bounces into the cup.
A good way to do this is to aim for the edge of the table, just above the cup. This will give you the best chance of making a shot that counts.
If you are playing with teams, then each team gets to throw two balls per turn. If both players manage to make a shot, then the team gets to throw again.
If one player makes a shot and the other misses, then the team does not get to throw again that turn.

Strategies for winning at beer pong
as with any game, there is always a strategy to win. Here are some tips to help you come out on top:
– If you are playing with teams, make sure to communicate with your teammate and try to come up with a system for who throws first. This will help you make the most of your team’s throws.
– If you are playing without teams, pay attention to where the other players are making their shots and try to block them off. This will give you a better chance of being the last player standing.
– When throwing the ball, aim for the edge of the table just above the cup. This will give you a better chance of making a shot that counts.
– If you are playing with bouncing rules, try to make your shots so that they bounce off the table and into the cup. This will give you a better chance of making a shot that counts.
